Impossible to believe that dear Freddie has been gone for 10 years now.
The immediate pain has obviously retreated but I can honestly say that
not a day goes by when I do not think about him and miss his presence.
He filled a very large part of my life – the life of the others in the band – but most especially the millions of people he never met!
As I look back, I think the one thing that tends to be unsaid – aside from the obvious traits of fun, outrageousness, generosity of spirit, vocal ability etc – is the sheer brilliance of his musicianship.
Leagues ahead baby.
Fred – we love you – we miss you old friend!

On September 5th, in 1725, a 15 year old Louis XV married 21 year old Marie Leszczyńska.

He had originally been engaged to his cousin, Maria Anna Victoria of Spain, who had been living at Versailles for four years. However, there were concerns over Louis’ health and they wanted him to produce an heir as soon as possible, so the then 7 year old Infanta was sent back home.

Louis XV and Marie Leszczyńska would go on to have 11 children together in a span of just 10 years. After the difficult birth of their last child, Madame Louise, the Queen refused to allow the King into her bedroom any longer. Their formal marriage still continued even after their physical relationship ended, and she was greatly mourned by the people of France when she died in 1768.
